Getting a new book

Miia sighed and said, "Not really. She is still her annoying, overly loud self."

"No...." Kris laughed, "If you mention Rowan, does she go crazy?"

She sighed and said, "No one talks about Rowan anymore. Its too sad of a topic for many people."

"Well that isn't good....I mean...it is unsolved..." Kris ran his fingers though his hair. "...so some talk has to be going on."

Miia shrugged and said, "People tried to avoid it as much as possible. Because of all the stories about this town being haunted by ghosts and demons..."

Kris looked up at Rowan. "....I never heard anything, and I am around the town more then anyone." Looking around the room, he continued. "I'll keep a ear out and continue to think about what is going on, looking in every time I get on this situation."

Rowan nodded and said, "Even before I died, people would whisper about ghosts, hiding in the shadows when they would talk. Miia should know."

"I bet it's those 'I saw a human walking around my home and I live alone' stories and what-not that you normally hear." Kris let out a small laugh.

Miia sighed and said, "But there are ghosts here. I basically guard one."

"I know that....but this is actually the first time I ever saw one..." Kris got up and stood beside Rowan.

Miia blinked and asked, "You know about Aunt Lucy's ghost?"

"I don't think so..." Kris look back Miia. "I never heard of any ghost from anyone...."

Miia sighed and said, "Have you heard about the murder of Lucy Carolina who was found in the river almost 20 years ago?"

"No..." Kris leaned against the the wall. "I don't hear any stories from anyone."

"I'm surprised that you don't even know about Lucy Carolina," Rowan said, shaking his head. "Explain the story, Miia."

Taking a deep breath, Miia said, "My mother's family is one of the richest families in the state, the Carolinas. My aunt, Lucy, was twenty when she was found in the river, dead. She was strangled and drowned, stabbed repeatedly in the chest and side. Her ghost haunts this town..."

"Wow...." Kris's eye widened. "...Was her murder solved?"

Miia shook her head. "Thats why she still haunts us... and just like Rowan, she doesn't remember anything."

"It seems both want to know why and who killed them.." Kris looked at Rowan. "I wonder why you can't remember."

Rowan shifted uncomfortablly under Kris's gaze.

Miia came to his rescue and said, "I think they both have unfinished buisness here. I think that since both of them were so young, they wanted to finish their lives, but I don't know why Rowan is chained here and Aunt Lucy isn't."

Kris let out a let out a laugh, "I said that unfinished business a while back." He continued to laugh but it stopped as he snapped his fingers, "Maybe there is something in the books since there is nothing in the building."

"Maybe thats it..." Miia whispered, glancing over at Rowan.

Kris closed his eyes and began to think, "Have you read all the books in this building Rowan, or Miia?"

Rowan said, "Fantasy? Yes... Miia has read almost all of the non-fiction and sci-fi."

"Well...do you care to show me the section?" He gave a smile. "I don't know why but I'm excited."

Laughing, Rowan led him out to the non-fiction section, followed by Miia.
